I have been in the city longer than my father knows but even so, I appreciate the gift.
[ because it is almond tofu, the very thing preventing him from being more annoyed at his father's meddling. xiao looks between ryouta and his hand before taking it with only a tinge of hesitation. ]
You as well. [ his gaze flicks to jun. ] Jun, was it you who thought to find me on a roof?
[Ryouta's seeing now why Zhongli asked if Jun could try to make friends with this guy. They're both awkward and bad at conversation. Just in different ways. There really are two Juns. Or two Xiaos, depending on how someone looks at it.]
No worries! First chats are always awkward. Let's sit and have some of that almond tofu! There's more than enough for three of us, and probably some leftovers that you can take if you want, Xiao.
[He's going to go ahead and take the lead by finding a relatively clean spot on the roof to sit down. He'll help dole out some tofu as he keeps chatting.]
Jun and I are students over at Kaisou U! I haven't really decided on a major, just working on my associate's 'til I can figure out what I wanna do, you know? And I think Jun's going into Art, but I thought I heard that you're switching majors. Hey, Xiao, are you enrolling for the Fall Semester?
[There are in fact two Juns here tonight, which is exactly why Jun called in Ryouta]
Mm, Ryouta's right. And I'm not exactly good at this either, so don't worry about it.
[Which bless Ryouta for moving this conversation along. He'll sit down near Ryouta, helping out with the administering of tofu ]
Yeah, that's right, though I'm taking the summer to think over what major I want to switch to. Zhongli offered to help me once I made my decision - he was my teacher for Asian history class this spring.
[He'll glance over at Xiao, curious. He got the general vibe from Zhongli that Xiao was much older than the both of them - but who knows maybe this guy likes to enroll in school again and again all Edward Cullen style]
[ xiao waits until ryouta has sat down before sitting down himself. his back remains stiff, as though ready to leap back up at any given moment, accepting the tofu with a polite nod. ]
No. [ were you expecting him to seriously think about it? because uh... ] There is very little schooling can teach me that I don't already know. I would be better off putting what skills I already possess to work rather than attempting to learn new ones.
[ who would even want to go to school again and again? that sounds insane. ]
[Xiao looks like a feral cat ready to bolt or pounce.]
I sure as hell wouldn't wanna go to school for the rest of my immortal life. But I'd probably get bored pretty fast if I just did one thing I know I'm good at, too. I just thought it might be a good way to kinda learn about all the things that've probably changed. And if you say something weird while on campus, just tell them you're a theater or art student and they'll just not pry into it!
[Wow, that's actually a solid observation and idea from him. It won't last, don't worry.]

[Ryouta holds out his hand.]
I'm Ryouta Ibuki. It's nice to meet you!

Jun Nightroad.

[ is he making a joke? maybe??? ]

[Ryouta shakes his hand, grinning, and lets go. He'll let Jun answer that question.]
no subject
Mm. I thought you'd be more comfortable meeting on the roof than somewhere more crowded.

I have never been fond of crowds, [ with his height he is easy to lose within the crowds, but that isn't the reason. ] so your thought was correct.
[ a beat. ]
I'm sorry, I am not exactly good at... this sort of thing. [ but he is trying. ]

Mm, for sure. And I personally like learning about new things and trying different things out. It helps me grow and learn about myself.
Though ... that's just my own take on it. I know others feel differently.
